Some things are just too good not to share!! You gotta go visit Top of The Hill Produce. This locally owned Renton Highland's grocery is one of my favorite places to visit. Jackie Maples, owner, runs a top-notch small grocery featuring incredible produce, plants, flowers, fresh pasta, fresh bread, yummy cheeses and a great wine selection. They have everything you need and more.
This time of year Yakima tomatoes are one of my favorite finds. Top of the Hill occasionally sells $5.00 boxes of the "not so pretty" tomatoes and I've become a full-fledged tomato hoarder. I've been stock-piling these delicious finds and have made over 20 pounds of homemade tomato sauce, roasted tomato soup, salsa and all things tomato!
Can you believe it's the end of August? Kids are going back to school and the leaves are already changing. It's been an awesome summer in Renton! We had a blast visiting 9 different restaurants with great patios. It helped that this is the second driest summer on record. A big thank you to the Renton businesses for participating in our Summer Patio Series. Check out these awesome restaurants and let them know Steve and Tracy sent you!
Stay tuned for our Fall Back To School series beginning the first week of September. We will follow up with a Holiday Cheer series in November. If you have or know of a business that should be featured let us know at email@example.com.

We discovered this little Renton gem when we were out and about! Founder, Marley Rall, has turned this conspicuous little strip mall space into a lovely family and dog friendly Taproom.
You have to walk through the door!
You’ll discover a friendly atmosphere, over 25 beers on tap, a small pub menu (or you can bring in your own food), comfy wood tables, outdoor patio, a game room with a big screen TV and the Brewmaster Bakery. We enjoyed a delicious Maui Coconut Porter while chatting with Bruno, the bartender. We met Kai, the adorable border collie and made a list of all the awesome beers we want to come back and try.
Summer is winding down and The Brewmaster Taproom is getting ready for Back To School by giving back to the
The Stone House Cafe has become one of our favorites since we had breakfast on their beautiful patio last month. Last week we had to go back for dinner and once again it was absolutely lovely, even if I didn’t have one of the homemade donuts. We started with handcrafted cocktails, the Blackberry Nehi and Redhead Red Margarita, then shared the Chicken Tacos off the starter menu and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Everything was exceptional. This charming restaurant has beautiful views of Lake Washington and the patio is perfect for summer dining.
Happy hour is from 3-6pm: 20% off all starters with the purchase of a cocktail. They are closed on Monday. The Stone House Cafe is located at 9701 Rainier Avenue S, about 2 miles north of downtown Renton.
Being a first-time home buyer can be overwhelming and intimidating, especially in a hot market like Seattle. As our local market shifts to a more buyer-friendly market, home buyers are able to take a little more time when choosing their first home. But, as the old saying goes “if you have to sleep on it, you may not sleep in it” still stands true. Fairly priced homes are still selling quickly and it’s important to do your homework so you don’t miss out. Buying a home is probably the biggest purchase you’ll ever make! What if you make a mistake? Don’t worry…the following list will help you stay on track and find your perfect home.
1. Get Your Finances in Order
Before beginning a serious home search, you need to have the necessary cash for a
Who doesn’t love locally sourced fresh ingredients and 150 beers on tap? Trencher’s Kitchen & Tap at The Landing has been delicious every time we’ve been. This was the first time the weather allowed for dining on the patio which also happens to be dog-friendly! Our food was outstanding. We had the Fried Green Tomato BLT and the Grilled Cheese with thick cut bacon and tomato jam. I could eat there everyday! They have more specials than I have space for so check out their website at www.trencherskitchenandtap.com. Happy hour is Monday-Friday: 3-6pm.
Grab your fur-buddy and head down to the Landing to Trencher’s. They do take the Passport card which is an added bonus. Trencher’s Kitchen & Tap is located at The Landing, 822 N. 10th PL.
Craving a frosty margarita, chips and salsa? The days are long and hot! Check out this fun summer patio. Santa Fe Mexican Grill, on Sunset, has a great happy hour Monday-Friday, 11am-5pm and 8pm-close. We tried the Shrimp Ceviche Tostadas, Tacos al Pastor and the Skinny Margarita (large enough to share). Everything was delicious. Service was outstanding. Tell the manager Isidro we sent you! They have live music on Friday nights.
The For The Love Of Renton Fall blog series will feature family owned businesses offering Back To School specials during September and October. We are looking to feature a variety of Renton businesses including:
